Thompson May Have Lobbied for Abortion Gang

LA Times reports that Fred Thompson may have lobbied for an abortion gang.  This may or may not be true, but illustrates why it is folly for conservatives to rally so soon behind Thompson just because he says some great things about concealed carry, we liked his movies and think that we need someone from Hollywood to win.  This is what happens when you rally around a "non-candidate" who is still testing the waters this late.  I hope Second Amendment supporters will rally around Duncan Hunter as a man tested on the battlefield, tested in Congress, tested in the media.

Rwanda: Where did all those machetes come from?

We all know 800,000 Rwandans were killed by (mostly) machetes, but who armed the Rwandan militias with all those machetes?  China, of course:

(The same China that seeks and obtains exemption from the international gun control it advocates.)

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone had a great 4th today.  My wife joined me in the Huntington Beach NRA Member Council's entry in that city's parade this morning (2nd largest Independence Day parade in the nation).  It was the first time she participated in a parade, outside of the Ukrainian SSR.  (Lots of positive feedback from the "Kalashnikitty" T-shirt.)  There is a lot of support for the NRA out there, folks.

What Chertoff Means in Russian

Regarding Chertoff's name, "-ov" or "-off" in Russian is simply a suffix for names, without other meaning.  More interesting is the Russian translation of "devil":

The second word on the list, "ЧЕРТ" (bolded, in red), is pronounced "chort" (there is supposed to be an umlaut over the "E") rather than "chert" but difference in pronunciation may be considered de minimis given the practical limits of transliteration.
