Revolutionary new submachine gun drastically reduces recoil, wipes out muzzle climb

Totally new design redirects recoil vector downward.  "Spray" is generally not descriptive of machine gun fire due to muzzle climb, but might actually apply to this gun.  95% reduction in muzzle climb, even with .45ACP, and can be fired with one hand.  A little too much gun for everyday personal defense, but would be very handy in case of civil unrest.

Company tests indicate the mechanism reduces recoil by 40 to 60 percent and muzzle rise by about 95 percent over conventional gun operating systems.

Better Fred than Dead

My favorite is still Hunter and Thompson has a few negatives (seems everyone voted for McCain-Feingold), but Thompson is saying the right things on concealed carry and if Hunter does not get traction soon, "we" (I left the GOP) have to at least look at Thompson as a real conservative who can attract a broad base of contributions.

Former Senator Fred D. Thompson of Tennessee shook up the Republican presidential field today by making clear that he is likely to run for the White House.

Can small arms be a check on government?

Link: The Volokh Conspiracy - James Madison, Gun Nut:#171608.  Excerpt from an anonymous comment on Volokh Conspiracy, responding to a contention that small arms could not effectively check the power of a better-armed government:

Small arms such as a single-shot deringer, a semi-automatic pistol, .22 revolver, a bolt action rifle, a modern military type rifle, heck, couldn't even a simple knife be considered a potential check on government, or at least on those who govern? Looking at history it would appear to me that small arms are quite capable of being a “check” on those who govern.
