"Jericho" TV Series is Extremely Pro-Gun

We have not had television since 1995, and there is some good TV out there that we've missed.  Fortunately, we caught up with "24" on DVD and now there is something even better: JERICHO.
You can watch the first season episodes online, or get them on DVD.  Second season starts February 2008, thanks to fan support .  The series is extremely pro-gun.  Spread the news.

Christmas Gifts that Teach

Santa brought Ayn some educational gifts this year.  Among them:

  • Complete set of episodes from Star Trek [now known as Star Trek - The Original Series (TOS)], essentially a great collection of morality plays.  (Shatner and Nimoy are both of Ukrainian descent, by the way.)  Always a fan of the original series, I never cared for the later spinoffs.  Did anyone else notice how the Federation within a brief hundred years shed capitalism not just for communism, but communism sans currency, sans monetary system?  Volokh Conspiracy did.  Unbelievable...immoral...totalitarian.  Even with its antiquated special effects, the original series is much more believable.
  • Jasman Gunslinger Shooting Gallery (indoor infrared toy target system from Target).  This is by far her favorite toy this Christmas, a good first step in learning the three secrets (sight picture, sight alignment, trigger control).  Tremendously popular with her friends (both boys and girls), and I think it's converting some anti-gun parents.
  • Daisy "Buck" BB gun (plus practice range in garage) -- in case Vulcan nerve pinch fails.

ABC's 20/20 Seeks Armed Citizen Stories

(Via NRA-ILA.)  ABC's 20/20 show (one of the few that approach the gun issue with some fairness, at least with reporting by John Stossel re: Myths of Gun Control), now seeks "armed citizen" self-defense stories.  You can sumit the story with a simple online form on ABC's site.  (I like that the form acknowledges: "Perhaps you warded off a potential attacker by simply showing a gun?")

More Guns, Less Time

Link: John Lott's Website: Reviews of "24".

Dr. Lott links to several reviews of the season opener for "24", a show he admits liking.

My wife and I became extremely addicted to this show after Blockbuster peddled a DVD to us.  Not having television since 1995, we did not discover the show until last summer.  After the initial "hit" from Blockbuster we saw all four seasons then available on DVD - took about two weeks.  Not that the gun handling is perfect or that there is nothing to object to, politically or morally - there is, it's just that the show is so riveting and there's a lot of good in it, too.  Saw the fifth season last month - took just a few sleep-deprived days.  Very tempted to get TV just for "24" and also maybe for Front Sight Challenge, but I think we'll be able to hold out 'til the next DVD release.  What a Rush.
